Next Neighborhood Watch Meeting:

Our Mission Statement

To encourage a sense of community through participation in local and national events to premote awareness of the benifits of Neighborhood Watch, and by assisting Lone Rock residents and local law enforcement agencies in developing a safe, secure neighborhood environment.

Neighborhood Watch is proud to be in the Village Of Lone Rock. We want more people involved in preventing crime! Neighborhood Watch functions as neighbors looking out for neighbors. We are the eyes and ears only. Information should never be acted on, but passed on to 911 or to the Richland County Police non-emergency number (608)-647-2103.

What's in it for you? Safer streets, homes, community spirit, camaraderie with your neighbors, stronger relationships with law enforcement, and so much more. It's easy to participate in the program. Neighborhood Watch embraces and strengthens many of the things we already do, such as watching out for each others homes or working together to solve community problems. But Neighborhood Watch also brings the power of organization and the ability to focus energy and resources.

Most often Neighborhood Watch groups get started because there have been incidents in the community that have caused concern such as acts of vandalism, burglaries, or auto thefts. These are the types of crimes that Neighborhood Watch is most successful in reducing. An active Watch Group can also help reduce drug dealing, discourage gangs, improve security of young people, and help older neighbors stay safe from crime.

"If you would like to participate in the Neighborhood Watch, please go to the become a member page under get involved and fill out our membership form”.

The prevention of crime – particularly crime involving residential neighborhoods – is a responsibility that must be shared equally by law enforcement and private citizens. The fact is, the impact on crime prevention by law enforcement alone is minimal when compared with the power of private citizens working with law enforcement and with each other. Neighborhood Watch is based on this conception of cooperation. When citizens take positive steps to secure their own property and neighbors learn how to report suspicious activity around their homes to law enforcement, burglary and related offenses decrease dramatically.

Maintaining an active Neighborhood Watch program may mean the difference between a safe community and one affected by burglary or vandalism.
